During the months leading to my departure it became apparent that my role at Pamoja would look a little different then we first thought (see below). Here is a current description of my responsibilities:
1) I help with Bookkeeping. My previous experience managing the accounts and expenses of my parents’ store, and working at The Embassy and Elevation office and has taught me a lot and is proving helpful.
2) The Feser’s have recognized my love for design and so have put me in charge of decorating 3 apartments and the video studio. I never thought of being able to do this kind of work in missions but it makes sense. If these apartments can be ready for missionaries they can immediately feel at home and begin focusing on their work right away. If I do a good job, my work will benefit many missionaries in the coming years.
3) -- and most important! Pamoja Ministries is following a vision to create a Video Musical. This project has the potential to reach thousands of Africans with a message of hope, change and a future. I have been given the title of Production Designer so I have been spending time discovering what it means to be a PD. Essentially I am responsible for the entire visual look of a film, including sets, props, furniture, costumes, hair and make-up.

Substantial help in the Finance Office:
Pamoja Ministries presently has 12 adult "Missionaries" and about 20++ Tanzanian Staff. So the Finance Office is equivalent to a medium-sized business. Tasks will include Payroll, Missionary Statements, Payment of Bills, Cash Receipts and Cash Expenditures, Banking, various Monthly and Quarterly Reports, the ever-present Data Entry as well as getting the financial books ready for an Audit.
Helper with the Student Resource Room:
It'll depend upon the expressed needs and opportunities which arise. However, especially we'd want you to be involved in planing events, supervising the students as they learn to do research, helping them with typing and computer skills, and planning (with others) discussion groups on various topics.

DEVELOPING FUTURE LEADERS - Children, Youth and Young Adults
(over half of the population in Tanzania is under the age of 15)
Through Video - We have produced 4 children's videos in Swahili. "Yoeli, Overcoming Fear" is the first animated video in Swahili (with English subtitles)!
Through Campus Ministry - Pamoja Ministries is located next to three colleges. We are working with the Christian Student groups on campus to make resources such as textbooks, biblical training, and mentoring available to the students.
DEVELOPING CHRISTIAN LEADERS
Through Literature - In participation with World MAP and Hundredfold Ministries, we distribute free, high- quality books and magazines to over 50,000 church leaders in Swahili-speaking Africa.
Through Video - In partnership with the International School of Ministry (ISOM), we provide video-based Bible and Ministry training to hundreds of students in about 50 centres in Tanzania.
Through Distance Education - In partnership with the Nations University, we supply internet access and textbooks, enabling students to study online at the Bachelors and Masters levels in Religious Studies.
